If you want an airplane to have a spectacular roll rate, you ditch a long monoplane wing in favor of a compact biplane design and juice the control input by giving yourself 4 powerful ailerons. If you want the power to drive through the most aggressive maneuver, you give yourself an enormous cowl - big enough to hold a high performance engine. If you want to turn on a dime, you design a rudder big and powerful enough to swing the airplane around even at low speeds. And if you want the plane to slip through the air (here's the big secret), you give the plane surprisingly thin wings. Older biplane designs had thick wings. The result was that if you chopped the throttle, the plane slowed down right now. Standard landing procedure was to flair above the runway, chop the throttle and just "plop" onto the runway. Not the Ultimate. The Ultimate grooves through all maneuvers, lands like a pussycat and greatly reduces the fear and ability needed to fly an aerobatic champion. Thus the Ultimate biplane was born and all the things that make the real Ultimate an aerobatic champion have been incorporated into the Cox Ultimate. The Cox Ultimate is fully built up from lightweight balsa and ply and includes a fiberglass cowl and wheel pants and crystal clear plastic canopy. A full hardware package containing US sized spinner, fuel tank, wheels, steerable tailwheel, pushrods and linkages is included. Cox also gives you those extra touches. A big problem with biplane models is getting the alignment of the wings just right. Cox makes it easy with the included templates that set the incidence and make wing alignment a snap. The upper wing cabane mounts and the wing strut attachment points are all pre-built at the factory so all you have to do is bolt on the wings. We also include a clear dummy cowl so that you can see and measure any glow plug or exhaust openings you may require so that you can accurately cut them in the fiberglass cowling without guesswork. The Cox Ultimate is already covered in genuine Sig AeroKote in an eye catching 3 color design. The fiberglass cowl and wheel pants are pre-painted to match. Flying the Ultimate is a joy - it's the very definition of a "go where you point it" airplane. Climbing at a 45 degree angle while knife edge, true end swapping lomcevaks and lightning quick, don't blink or you'll miss em snap rolls are all part of the Ultimates capabilities. Like the real version, slow down and set the Cox Ultimate onto the runway like a pro. This is a model that won't fight you when you want it to be gentle and let's you go wild when you want to show off. The Cox Ultimate - full scale fun packed into only 44 inches.
