Back in the gay nineties, a popular summer pastime was taking a steam boat, such as this, for an excursion ride.  The Fantail Launch II model is typical of a small open steam yacht that was common at the turn of the century.
    This model builds quickly due to the simplified plank-on-frame construction technique which uses balsa sheeting for planking the hull.
